Our history rewritten. We had thought rugby in Whitchurch was first played around the early 1890’s. Whilst researching history for our centennial year, records were found of fixtures dated around that time. Eventually settling for 1892 we celebrated 100 years in 1992. But, a message recently from Joshua Heath, who is researching association football in South Wales, predates any all our previous records. He came across an article announcing the formation of a team by the name of Whitchurch football in September 1885. Football being the name of both sports back then. Just a month later, 24 Octo.....
